Walks Sunday March 8th2026

Posted on: Sat 7th March 12:45am
This walk is a "C" walk, led by Anne Murphy. Suitable for all. And these are the details, so read carefully...
The meeting point is Sliabh Bam substation car park at 11am. You can find this by putting Sliabh Ban Substation into google maps, and that will see you rightly. If you don't have google maps, then directions from Boyle: ....Go through Strokestown heading out the N5. After about 4km turn right onto R371 signposted Ballyleague/Lanesboro. About 1.7km up this road, there is a small road to the right to bring you to the carpark. This little turn is easy to miss so look out for the orange bollard......Note to self, get google maps. So 11am here for an 11km trail, on gravel track with steady gradual inclines. Trekking shoes/runners suitable for this. Any queries??? Contact Anne on 086 8100 309. Thank you Anne.

WALK NUMBER TWO CUILCAGH

This walk is tougher.. a "B" grade walk. And boots definitely needed for this one and all the gear. This is a climb up Cuilcagh. From about 250m to a height of 665m over rough possibly muddy terrain. so not the boardwalk. Cuilcagh is named for the limestone deposits on the mountain... Chalky mountain is the highest point in both Cavan and Fermanagh. But no need to bring sterling because we will be going back the same way. Meeting point for this is either 10 am at the Crescent Boyle to carpool or the start of the walk on the Bellavally gap where there is car parking for Cuilcagh. From Dowra follow the R200 east through Glangevlin. keep following the R200 for approx 7 km from Glangevlin to the carpark. We can meet in the carpark at 11.15. With all that in mind, it could be a good idea to meet in Boyle and go from there.
Philip is leading this one. And if you don't know his number already it is 086 335 3000. Give him a call
